Combining Photography and Stock - A Case Study
STEP 1: Proposal
Progressive Insurance asked us to create a series of images showing one of their existing characters in a wide variety of scenarios without built scenery or onsite location work.
STEP 2: Image Stock Search
With the goal of creating funny and outrageous vacation images with the hero character Jamie, we did an extensive stock search finding a catalog of locations for his travels. Once final locations were approved, we could prep for a photo shoot with the actor playing Jamie.
STEP 3: Studio Photoshoot
Heading to the studio in LA with final images and storyboards, we photographed Jamie posed for each of the scenarios. While still on set, we quickly comped him into the backgrounds to check our poses, lighting, and overall quality.
STEP 4: Compositing Imagery
With all the pieces in place we then carefully assemble and craft the final images: seamlessly compositing elements and adding finishing touches and enhancements. Below you can see the finished product used in the commercials.
